PREPARE YOUR HOME FOR YOUR PHOTO SHOOT:
Move cars fromthe driveway. Park down the street (not in front of your home) if possible.
Have house ready to go. Photographer is not a stager and will not move any furniture or
Clear off kitchen counters. Remove pots or spoons, cutting boards and unattached appliances
(toasters, blenders, etc.) Store those items away for photo purposes.
Put outdoor items away. Utilize your storage shed or garage (we don’ t take photos of inside of
those unless they are especially unique). Outdoor toys, trampolines (if possible), etc.
Declutter all rooms. Rooms should be as least busy as possible. If possible to put away in
closets, please do so. Items between furniture or in corners should be put away.
Spend extra attention to bathrooms. Put away bathroom items in drawers or closets. Including shampoo, soap, curlers, make up, combs, razors, etc.
Review all personal items about and on the walls. It’s hard for buyers to see a home as their
own if there are too many family photos in a home. Take down things that could be seen as
controversial by potenti al home buyers who may have different opinions than you do. This includes political opinions, risque pictures, art , sayings or slogans, drug or music life styles, etc.
Put away all clothing items, toys, paperwork, video games and
Put extra food items away. Stacks of sodas, alcohol, waters or bulk food should be placed in
the pantry or inside the garage if possible.
Put away all animal ite ms. Litter boxes, sleep crates, toys, food bowls, etc.
PUT AWAY ALL PERSONAL ITEMS. This includes bills, purses, wallets, prescription drugs, jewelry, money, etc.
BONUS STEPS TO CONSIDER FOR SHOWING APPOINTMENTS:
If you are expecting a showing the following day while away at work, consider these optional
Spray a nice fragrance air spray throughout the home, not too much, to freshen up. (If you are
leaving for a very short time and then come back immediately after an appointment, consider
carefully lighting nice fragrance candles in a room or two. Also for a short time away for an
appointment, consider turning on all lights.)
Review all rooms to make sure they are tidy and things are put away.
If you have a music player, play a nice instrumental music station, like classical or jazz, at
a soft volume.
Leave out a friendly note on the kitchen counter or dining room table to the agent and potential
buyers who come to see your home. Consider leaving out some snacks like cookies or crackers (no nuts or peanut butter) and bottles of water.
